Week 21 of 52: Texture.

Pixie’s very first band-aid.  She really didn’t need it but she kept talking about her boo boo and I thought it would get her mind off of the teeeeeeny-tiny little scratch on her hand.  Now I’m sure I started the “every boo boo needs a band-aid” ritual, but I really just couldn’t resist.  And you should hear her say band-aid.  ”Pancaid”  Jason thought she was asking for pancakes.  :)

One Year Ago. Columbus Baby Photography

One year ago…

..this little angel was born…

Bentley.  One Year Big.

And this little guy became a big brother.  He’s fulfilling the role quite well!

Cutest family.  I love this!
Raewin seriously is the best Momma and sweetest person ever.  She is always so very thoughtful and makes sure everyone around her knows how much she appreciates them.  Pixie gets little handmade cards in the mail from her littles.  ”Hugs for Valentines Day” with the kids’ little hand prints and flowers with their precious little faces in the bloom for Mother’s Day.  So very sweet!  I love you, Rae!

Okay, so it’s the middle of May and it was really only 46 degrees out.  Bentley was trying to be a little trooper but she was FREEZING.

Just one year ago, you made your family the happiest they’ve every been, Bug.  You were born.  We love you SO!
And a flashback because it really did happen in a FLASH…

9 Months.

Happy One Year, Sweetie.  Xoxoxoxooxoxox!

And a little glimpse into Bentley’s life from Momma’s eyes…

What is your favorite memory during her first year of life?
There have been so many! One of my favorites is when she started using her first phrase ‘Uh Oh’. She would actually use it in the right context- when she would drop a toy- “Uh Oh!”, when she would throw her sippy cup- “Uh Oh!”

Do you have a funny story or something that happened in her first year that you’d like to share?
Throughout her first year, we found when she was extremely fussy, if we sang “the wheels on the bus”, she would stop fussing. If we stopped singing, she would start fussing again. So, there have been a lot of rounds of ‘wheels on the bus’ this past year- Blaze even sings it to her.

What age/month has been your favorite and why?
She finally started coming out of her serious shell around 11 months and her personality really started to shine. She started smiling, laughing, and socializing a lot more.

Favorites..

Favorite Animal- Stuffed- “Dot” the ladybug. Real- Kitty Cats
Favorite Food- Goldfishies and Pretzels
Favorite Toy- Cups. Loves to put anything and everything in any kind of cup, and then toss it around.

Week 20 of 52: Treasure.

I stumbled upon this beautiful treasure in Las Vegas.  Of course Las Vegas has amazing treasures every where you turn.  But this, THIS was really something.  Art is everywhere, friends.  Just open your eyes.  And your heart.  Let it all in.

Little angel. Columbus Newborn Photography

Amelia. Newborn.

Just beautiful.
Look at those wittle lips and nose.  OHHHHHH!

Welcome to the world, Amelia Grace.  You are a little angel!

A fun questionnaire from the new Mommy and Daddy…

How long have you been married and how did you meet?
We have been married for a little over 2 years and we met while working together at a pharmaceutical company many years ago.

Tell us how you found out you were expecting.
We had a few drinks and were headed to Taco Bell before going home. I pulled into Walgreens next door instead. He asked what I was doing and I said, we need to get a pregnancy test before we continue in any more of our typical summer patio festivities. The test came back positive, but he didn’t believe it so he made me take every one in the three pack!

Did you find out the gender? How did you come up with her name?
Jason isn’t all that patient or good at waiting for surprises, so he wore me down and I eventually agreed to find out the sex. Amelia was virtually the only girl name we could agree upon!

Is there a nursery or shower theme you’d like to share.
We decorated her nursery in Carter’s “Jungle Jill” theme.

A baby is here! What are you looking forward to the most?
Our new family dynamic. All the firsts. Getting excited about the simple things again!
High school graduation! -(Daddy)

You are a new parent. Give us the scoop. What has surprised you the most about parenthood? Any funny stories or first times, share with us.
How hard it has been this first month-no one tells you this stuff! They all lie!

We do something dumb virtually every day. For example, for her first doctors appointment despite the planning devoted to getting out of the house on time, we managed to be late for her doctors appointment and then she needed a diaper change. We had to tell the doctor that we forgot the diaper bag at home! I followed it up with, “at least we remembered the baby!” We all laughed and luckily they had a few spare diapers!
The importance of putting a diaper on tightly- (Daddy)

How did you find Crystal Jo?
I saw her work advertised at That Gym on Grandview.
